The following is a press release from the Wayne County Extension Office:
Cedar Ridge 4-H Shooters are meeting Jan. 15, 6 p.m. at the Wayne County Extension Office. This 4-H club is open to any Wayne County youth ages 8-18 who are interested in learning firearm safety.
Members and volunteers will fill out paperwork, discuss practice times, talk about fundraisers and make plans for the 2013 year.
Youth ages 8-9 on Jan. 1 are eligible to participate in the BB and Pellet Air Rifle categories. Youth between the ages of 10 and 18 on Jan. 1 are eligible to participate in 22 Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, and Archery categories.
Youth must complete a minimum of 8 hours safety training and practice in each category they want to participate in. All youth need a parent or guardian to attend this meeting with them in order to complete necessary paperwork.
Safety is top priority when participating in this club. Members have opportunities for competitive shooting in addition to regular safety and practice sessions. Please call 601-735-2243 for more information.
